LEADS from LLAMA

LLAMA experienced huge success with its foray into the world of online continuing education. In October and November, well-known library consultant Pat Wagner presented a series of three webinars for LLAMA that were geared toward library deans, directors and top-level managers. Based on evaluation surveys, we estimate that these three webinars reached more than 700 people!
On Oct. 21, “The Executive-Decision Maker’s Secret Weapon – How You Can Make Better Choices with the Use of Graphic Models” had 58 registrants and was viewed by 200-300 people. This success prompted us to market the next two webinars to a broader audience of ALA members, resulting in more than 70 people registering for both “Learn the Supervisor’s Balancing Act – How You Can Bring Out the Best in Your Top People Without Micromanagement” on Nov. 3 and “Make Your Library Dreams Come True – How to Use Project Management Techniques to Write a Strategic Plan” on Nov. 16. Participants were encouraged to have multiple viewers at their sites.
Plans are already underway to make recorded versions of these popular programs available and to develop additional webinars on other topics very soon.
