ALA offers free wireless access at 2007 Midwinter Meeting

(CHICAGO) The American Library Association (ALA) today announced it will offer free wireless access during its Midwinter Meeting in Seattle, January 19 to 24. Wireless access will be provided in most areas of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center other than the exhibit floor.

To use the in-house wifi, attendees must have a wifi-enabled device. The service is provided for basic Internet use, such as Web browsing and checking e-mail. This is not meant for use with VPN (virtual private networks) or other point-to-point communications.

Attendees also may use computers in the ALA Internet Café for online access. Sponsored by Elsevier, the Internet Café will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. January 19 through 22 on Level 4, North Lobby, of the convention center.
