SWITZER, DZIEDZIC, SEEK TO FILL ALA TREASURER VACANCY
Teri Switzer, assistant director for Human Resources and Budget at Auraria Library in Denver, and Donna Dziedzic, director of Naperville (Ill.) Public Library, and are candidates to fill the remainder of the American Library Association (ALA) Treasurer term being vacated by Liz Bishoff. The one-year term begins in June 2003.
Switzer is chair of LAMA’s Human Resources Section, and a member of the Board of Directors. She has chaired the LOMS Financial Management Committee. She holds a master’s degree in library science from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and a master’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting/taxation from Colorado State University. She is a member of Beta Phi Mu and Beta Alpha Psi honorary societies. Before taking the post at Auraria Library earlier this year, Switzer worked three years as interim assistant dean for administrative services at Colorado State University (Ft. Collins), where she was responsible for primary oversight of all fiscal services for the University Libraries. She also has worked as personnel librarian and associate professor at Colorado State for more than seven years. She is the treasurer of Keystone Valley Corp., a sub-chapter S corporation with business holdings in Summit County, Colo., and is a member of the governing board of the Central Colorado Library System. Switzer is also active in ACRL.
Before taking the reins at Naperville in 1996, Dziedzic worked as the senior program director at the ALA, where she served as staff liaison to the finance, audit and endowment committees. She currently serves as a member at large on the ALA Council and is a past president of ASCLA. Dziedzic also is a past member of the ALA Budget Assembly. She received the ALA/ASCLA Service Award in 1997. Dziedzic holds a master’s degree in library science from the University of Illinois.
As part of the ALA Midwinter Meeting, ALA will host a candidates’ forum for the 2004-2005 presidential and 2003-2004 treasurer posts Monday, January 27, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center Ballroom B from 5 to 6 p.m. Carol Brey and Herman Totten are seeking the ALA presidency.
