A Message from LLAMA President-elect John Spears –

Under the LLAMA bylaws, the Treasurer is appointed by the President-elect, in concurrence with the Board, for a two-year term, and is eligible for one two-year reappointment. I hope you will consider nominating yourself for the 2016-18 term that begins July 1.

The Treasurer is involved in all financial matters of LLAMA and is relied upon for wise counsel in matters of budget and finance. We seek for this important office a person with experience in both LLAMA and financial management. Specific duties include:

• Serving as a member of both the Board and the Executive Committee and being part of regularly scheduled meetings of those groups. Note: there are no face-to-face meetings of the Executive Committee outside of ALA conferences.
• Reporting financial results to the Board/Executive Committee and guiding discussion on current and future fiscal considerations, particularly as related to the annual operating plan.
• Reviewing monthly operating results with the executive director.
• Working with the executive director on development of the annual budget, based on the annual operating plan.
• Serving as liaison to the ALA Budget Analysis and Review Committee (BARC) and working with the executive director to keep ALA and BARC informed on LLAMA financial results and future planning.
