Connect with New Professionals through the LLAMA Buddy Program

The LLAMA New Professionals Section (NPS) is starting a Buddy Program to connect new and experienced LLAMA members to help new members navigate involvement in LLAMA activities. If you are looking for additional guidance in LLAMA (or would be interested in providing guidance) but don’t have time for a full mentoring relationship, this program is for you!

One of the main objectives of NPS is to improve new LLAMA members’ first experiences with the division, even if they are not new to the librarian profession.  The Buddy Program is a pilot initiative designed to give new members of LLAMA an initial short-term contact person to provide guidance on how LLAMA works and how to get involved.  This guidance could include an introduction to LLAMA activities at ALA conferences, information about the various LLAMA sections and how to get involved, virtual LLAMA programs, or virtual involvement in LLAMA.

We estimate that most partners in the Buddy Program will spend approximately 3-5 hours connecting with each other through the end of August 2014.

Please let us know if you are interested in participating as part of a Buddy pair by filling out this Google form by May 15, 2015.  For those that express interest, more information will be forthcoming.

Questions may be directed to Catherine Soehner (catherine.soehner@utah.edu) or Stephanie Anderson (sanderson@darienlibrary.org).

Thank you for your participation in this pilot initiative!
