Advance Your Career with LLAMA’s Midwinter Career Institute

Are you looking for a rocket-boost to your career? The Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) will present, Planning Your Next Career Move: Developing the Skills to Make it Happen on Jan. 25, 2013 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. This institute will be held in conjunction with the American Library Association’s (ALA) midwinter meeting in Seattle, Wash.
Presenter Elizabeth Atcheson will spotlight career development and management skills taught by executive coaches. At the end of this program, participants will understand how to build a professional network; manage their online presence; refine their narrative; conduct informational interviews; work with mentors; and choose professional commitments. Participants will also learn which interpersonal, management, and leadership skills are critical to promotions, including communication; collaboration; recruiting and retaining talent; and managing change. The workshop is aimed at currently-enrolled Library (LIS) students as well as early- and mid-career professionals and those considering a move into management or contemplating a career change.

Elizabeth Atcheson is the founder and principal of Blue Bridge Career Coaching, based in Seattle. In addition to workshops, she consults with individuals providing professional career development and strategy, along with the self-marketing tools to help clients navigate transitions and land the work that’s right for them. She serves as an executive coach to mid-level managers who need to acquire the self-awareness and interpersonal skills to succeed in complex professional environments and has worked with librarians and library managers. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
