LAMA seeks PR Makeover entries

Tired of the same old graphics and design on your library’s publicity materials? Do you have a brochure that could use more pizzazz? Maybe your public relations material could use a makeover! Don’t miss this great opportunity to get expert assistance and raise your library’s promotional materials to new heights.

The Swap and Shop Committee of the Public Relations and Marketing section (PRMS) of the Library Administration and Management Associations (LAMA), continuing the popular PR Makeover event first introduced in 2005. All types and sizes of libraries are invited to submit a brochure for a potential makeover.

How does it work? You send three copies of a library brochure that you’d like to see made-over. The “PR Doctors,” Peggy Barber of Library Communications Strategies and graphic designer Sam Silvio, will select two lucky entries for makeovers — one from a public or school library and one from an academic library. The makeovers will be unveiled during the Swap & Shop event on Sunday, June 29, during the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Anaheim (check conference schedule for exact location and time). You, and all Swap & Shop attendees, will have the chance to see the “before” and “after” brochures, and get personalized advice from a PR Doctor.

To submit a brochure for consideration, mail three copies of your entry to:
LAMA PRMS PR Makeover
1830 N. Fremont
Chicago, IL 60614
Include the name of the library making the submission, library staff contact name, mailing address, email address and phone number. Entries should arrive no later than April 15, 2008.

Swap & Shop, held at the Annual Conference since 1974, features promotional materials from libraries across North America, available for all attendees to peruse and take home as they seek ideas for their own public relations efforts.
