NATIONAL INSTITUTE A SUCCESS
Over 160 participants enjoyed LAMA’s second National Institute in the beautiful setting of the Naples (Florida) Beach Hotel and Golf Resort on November 14-16. The Spring 2003 issue of Library Administration & Management will have A full report and photos. Buoyed by the success, the National Institute Planning Committee will begin work on the 2004 Institute at Midwinter.

2003 ANNUAL CONFERENCE ALERT
For the 2003 Annual Conference, the ALA will be holding a joint conference with the Canadian Library Association. www.cla.ca/conference/cla_ala2003.htm The 2003 ALA/CLA Annual Conference will be held in Toronto, ON, June 19 -25, 2003. Registration information is available in the December issue of American Libraries magazine, and on this website. The preliminary program will be in the March issue of American Libraries and will include more in-depth information on the various programs and events that will comprise the ALA/CLA Annual Conference. LAMA will offer stimulating and timely programs and preconferences; check the ALA/CLA Annual Conference site for information and updates.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR IFLA OFFICERS
Nominations are invited for the position of President-elect and Members of the Governing Board of IFLA, which will determine the direction of IFLA for the next few years. The position of President-elect is open to anyone, including all the present Governing Board members, except the current President and the current President-elect. Each candidate needs ten valid nominations to be placed on the ballot. The ten elected places on the Governing Board are open to anyone, except the current President, the current Treasurer, and the President-elect who will begin her term of office as President in August 2003. Each candidate needs five valid nominations to be placed on the ballot. All requests for nomination will be reviewed by the International Relations Committee with recommended requests forwarded to the ALA Executive Board for final approval.

RECRUIT SPECTRUM SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS
The American Library Association’s Spectrum Initiative has helped over 200 diverse new leaders join the profession in the past 5 years. Spectrum Scholarship recipients have been in attendance at over 40 library schools. ALA is currently accepting applications for the 2003-4 Spectrum Scholarships via an electronic online application. The application deadline is March 1st, 2003! Please direct interested parties to www.ala.org/spectrum for full eligibility requirements and more information.
