Career Institute on Project Mgmt Announced

Congratulations, your boss has just handed you a new project. So what do you do now? LLAMA’s latest Career Institute, Project Management for Librarians: Planning for Success, will help you answer that question. The full-day institute will be held Friday, January 30, during the 2015 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Chicago.

This interactive course will equip you with the knowledge you need to successfully manage projects in all types of libraries. Using everyday scenarios to practice and apply key concepts, participants will be able to:

  • understand and manage the project lifecycle
  • identify stakeholders
  • set objectives
  • define activities, schedules and costs
  • assemble and manage teams
  • monitor and report progress

The institute will be led by Jennifer Sweeney, Ph.D., a library management consultant and adjunct faculty member in the College of Computing and Information Science at Drexel University in Philadelphia. She has had leadership roles in academic, public, and special libraries, and has been developing management workshops and training sessions for librarians since 2006.

Registration prior to December 1 is recommended as space is limited. Click here to register for the institute or to add it to your existing meeting registration. Just look for Ticketed Events under the Registration tab. You can also register for the institute without an ALA Midwinter Meeting registration.
