ALA President-elect Sari Feldman will kick off series of webinars featuring library thought leaders

Sari-headshot-2014-100x100In today’s rapidly changing library environment, innovative ideas and practices are more important than ever before. The Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) will present the first in a series of 60-minute webinars featuring library thought leaders from a wide variety of library types and sizes. ALA President-elect Sari Feldman will kick off the series with a free webinar on Nov. 12, at 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Central Time.

Sari is a past president of the Public Library Association (2009-2010), and has served as Executive Director of Cuyahoga County Public Library (CCPL) since June 2003. Under her leadership, CCPL has become one of the nation’s best and busiest public library systems, earning the Library Journal 5-Star recognition for five consecutive years (2010-2014). Prior to joining CCPL, Sari was Deputy Director of Cleveland Public Library, the nation’s third largest public research library. Sari also serves as president of the board of Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.

She previously served as an adjunct faculty member at the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University, teaching graduate courses in library management, reference services, policy and grant writing for more than 20 years. She was honored in 1995 with the Vice President’s Award for Teacher of the Year.

Sari was named a 2005 YWCA Woman of Achievement and recognized for her achievements by Smart Business Magazine. She was a member of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2004. She is the recipient of the David C. Sweet Leadership Academy Alumni Community Leadership Award and the Leadership Academy’s 2002 Community Impact Award. Sari received the 2008 Jane Donelson Player of the Year Award from the USA Toy Library Association and, in 2011, was named a Woman of Note by Crain’s Cleveland Business. In 2013, Sari was honored with the Public Library Association’s Charlie Robinson Award for innovation in library service.

Sari has presented on public libraries both nationally and internationally and written widely for professional publications.
