LLAMA preconference will tour Mansueto Library at University of Chicago

The Library Leadership and Management Association Buildings and Equipment Section (LLAMA-BES) will offer a private guided tour of the new Joe and Rika Mansueto Library at the University of Chicago, on Friday, June 28, from noon to 4:00 pm. This tour will take place in conjunction with the American Library Association annual conference in Chicago.

The iconic Mansueto Library is a stunning elliptical glass domed addition to the main library connected by a glass sided tube. Architect Helmut Jahn conceived of storing the collections underground and providing reader and department spaces for digitization and book conservation labs at grade level in light-filled and monumental space. This tour will include a demonstration of the automatic book retrieval system as well as reconfigured spaces in the adjacent Regenstein Library.

Tickets (includes transportation from McCormick Place Convention Center and back): LLAMA members $45;  ALA members $95;  student members $50;  non-members $195.
