LEADS from LLAMA

Under the LLAMA bylaws, the Treasurer is appointed, or re-appointed, every two years by the President-elect, in concurrence with the Board.  Accordingly, I am issuing a call for volunteers for nominations for appointment to the office of LLAMA Treasurer for the term 7/1/12 – 6/30/14.

The Treasurer is involved in all financial matters of LLAMA and is relied upon for wise counsel in matters of budget and finance. We seek for this important office a person with both experience in LLAMA service and experience in financial management.  Specific duties include:

• Serving as a member of both the Board and the Executive Committee and being part of regularly scheduled meetings of those groups. Note: outside of ALA conferences, there is one annual face-to-face meeting of the Executive Committee, generally held the last weekend of October (travel cost is covered by LLAMA).
• Reporting financial results to the Board/Executive Committee and guiding discussion on current and future fiscal considerations, particularly as related to the annual operating plan.
• Reviewing monthly operating results with the executive director, via a standing phone call.
• Working with the executive director on development of the annual budget, based on the annual operating plan.
• Serving as liaison to the ALA Budget Analysis and Review Committee (BARC) and working with the executive director to keep ALA and BARC informed on LLAMA financial results and future planning.
• Representing LLAMA at the ALA treasurer’s forum and other meetings arranged by the ALA Treasurer during the Midwinter Meeting and Annual Conference.
• Serving as liaison the LLAMA Financial Advancement Committee and coordinating association-wide fundraising efforts.
